Research interests:

Before commencing as a consultant Mr Assassa was a Senior research fellow for the Medical Research Council Leicester Incontinence study. 
He has published over 25 papers on the management of continence. He regularly lectures at National and International conferences on the medical and surgical management of urogynaecology problems. He has presented over 100 abstracts to the UK Continence Society, International Continence Society and the International Urogynaecology Society. He has been an invited speaker at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and the National Bladder forum and numerous regional meetings.

Professional profile:

Mr Assassa has over 10 years as a NHS Consultant in Gynaecology and is a specialist in Urogynaecology (Problems with Bladder control, continence and Vaginal Prolapse).
He has pioneered New Surgical and none-surgical therapies for continence. Often making treatment quicker, more confortable and with a shorter recovery time. Mr Assassa represents the Royal college of Obstetrics and gynaecologists in helping NICE (The National Institute of Clinical Excelence) review new surgical techniques in Urogynaecology. At present Mr Assassa is the British Society of Urogynaecology shadow Chair of Clinical audit (Becoming Chair Nov 2011).
He regularly audits his work and the results are among the best in the country for low complications, high success rates and high patient satisfaction.

Mr Assassa is the Chair of the Bladder and Bowel Foundation the largest National Charity for continence problems.
This is the Charity which advertises on TV encouraging people to seek help for continence problems. Mr Assassa is also the National and International Surgical trainer for a number of surgical companies. He regularly trains consultants from all over the world in new surgical techniques.
