Dr O'Dwyer obtained his primary medical degree from Trinity College, University of Dublin in 1998. He completed general medical training and became a member of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland in 2002 having spent 6 months in Neurology. He completed his doctoral degree with research on Dystonia, including collaboration with specialists in New York and Paris. He came to London in 2010 and was Senior Registrar for the new Hyper Acute Stroke Unit at the Atkinson Morley wing of St Georges Hospital.
He is lead for epilepsy at Frimley Park Hospital and lead for botox/dystonia at St Georges Hospital. His clinical interests include all types of epilepsy, other paroxysmal disorders including headache, parkinsonism, and dystonia/hyperkinetic movement disorders.
He has actively continued to write papers for neurology clinical and research journals. He has ongoing research interests in both epilepsy and movement disorders.
