Nicholas Ward was born in Leicestershire, educated at Loughborough Grammar School and went to Leeds medical school. He joined Frimley Park Hospital in September 2010 as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon specializing in foot and ankle surgery.
He graduated from medical school in 1996 and having joined the army spent 2 years in Germany looking after the soldiers and families of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards. He has subsequently served as an orthopaedic surgeon in Northern Ireland, Iraq and Afghanistan.
He carried out his basic surgical training at Frimley Park Hospital, before entering higher specialist orthopaedic training in Wessex and Oxford. He is fellowship trained, having undertaken specialist foot and ankle fellowships in Oxford, at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, and in Portsmouth. He has lectured on foot and ankle surgery both nationally and internationally. He has published papers both on foot and ankle surgery and trauma within international journals.
His special interests are in arthroscopic surgery, forefoot surgery, rheumatoid arthritis and sports injuries. He covers all aspects of foot and ankle surgery in his NHS practice, and is part of a multi disciplinary team involved with treating diabetic foot problems. He is a member of the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (BOFAS) and the British Orthopaedic Association.
