I was appointed as Consultant Anaesthetist at the Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in Guildford in May 2002. I am involved in pre-, intra- and post-operative surgical patient care in Orthopaedics, major Head and Neck Surgery and difficult intubation.  I am also Lead Clinician for the Day Surgical Unit, Surgical Short Stay Unit and the Radiotherapy Surgical Suite.

As a Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine, I am involved in managing critically ill patients on ten Level 3, eight Level 2 beds, as well as five Level 1 beds.  I have sessions as Consultant assessing and managing patients throughout the hospital referred via the Outreach Service.

I am also a member of the Simulation Anaesthetic Faculty involved in training all hospital staff and medical students at the nearby Surrey University Simulation Centre.

I am a UK trained and highly experienced anaesthetic medical practitioner with expertise gained during Higher Professional Training in London at St Mary's, Great Ormond St and Queen's Square, as well as Germany and Holland. I was also commissioned as a Senior Medical Officer with the Royal Air Force until 2001.

I have been accredited as a Consultant in Anaesthesia since 1997 and am currently employed by the Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust where I am Lead Clinician for Day Surgery. My private anaesthetic practice is managed by the Guildford Anaesthetic Services based at the Guildford Nuffield Hospital in Guildford, Surrey.  I currently enjoy private practice privileges at Spire Hospital Clare Park, Farnham and Spire Dunedin, Reading, as well as other local private hospitals.
 
I have gained many years expertise in providing a wide range of anaesthetic services, including pre-operative assessment, intravenous sedation, general anaesthesia, spinal and epidural analgesia, as well as a range of axial and peripheral regional nerve blocks utilizing both nerve stimulator and ultrasound guidance.

I currently work closely with Orthopaedic Consultants who are part of the Joint Reaction group based at Spire Hospital Clare Park.  I also undertake Medico-Legal work in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care.

I am married to Helen for 24 years.  We have two daughters, both currently at University.  I enjoy playing tennis, table tennis and cycling.
