The Spire Healthcare English Half Marathon took place on Sunday 18 September. The event was a great success, with the first three men and the first woman to cross the finish line all hailing from Warrington.
About 2,000 runners took part in the event and spectators from accross the town turned out to offer their support to the determined athletes on the 13.1 mile route.
Andrew Eadsforth, Hospital Director at Spire Cheshire Hospital completed the race in one hour and 50 minutes and raised money for Thailand's Sarnelli House orphanage where he has worked voluntarily for the last five years.
Dr Mark Caplan, Consultant Radiologist also took part in the event and stopped en-route to help a man that had collapsed. Mark stayed with the gentleman until paramedics arrived and then went on to complete the run in 2 hours and 12 minutes. He also handed out the winners cheques and trophies to Daniel Cliffe and Louise Blizzard, the first man and woman to complete the race.
