Background Information
Professional profile:

1979 Qualified University of Manchester

1986-1988 Registrar in Obstetrics and Gynaecology to the Mersey Rotational Programme

1988-1990 Research into the Immunology of recurrent miscarriage at the University of Liverpool

1990-1993 Lecturer in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at University of Liverpool

1993 - todate Consultant Obstetrican and Gynaecologist at Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

I receive many referrals for the management of menorrhagia by endometrial resection (ie burning the lining of the womb under direct vision using a telescope). This allows the successful treatment of heavy periods without resorting to hysterectomy. An audit in 2001 of the last 100 cases demonstrated that 95% of women were delighted with the outcome and in 40% of cases their periods had stopped altogether. I have also been trained in keyhole surgery which allows the management of many cases laparoscopically rather than by the traditional open procedure.

Personal profile:
I am married to Liz a local GP. I have two teenage girls. As a family we enjoy walking in the Lake District, skiing and playing golf.
