I undertook my Medical Sciences Degree in Cambridge 1975-1978 and then undertook my Clinical training at the Royal London Hospital qualifying MA MB BChir (Cantab) in 1981. I undertook my radiology training at the Royal London from 1985-1990 and then returned home to Cardiff and took up Consultant post at East Glamorgan Hospital, now Royal Glamorgan Hospital in 1991. I have practiced musculoskeletal (orthopaedic) radiology since my second year of radiology training. I undertook my medical student elective at the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases. I am a member of the British and European Societies of Skeletal Radiology and have lectured widely on a broad range of orthopaedic radiology topics. I have authored articles and chapter on orthopaedic radiology. I have a strong commitment to teaching and have been Head of Radiology School for Wales and am Quality Assurance Lead for the Royal College. I became President of the British Institute of Radiology in 2010.
Despite a busy professional schedule I am a member of two golf clubs Royal Porthcawl and Radyr. I hover around the 12 handicap mark.
