I am a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon specializing in Medical Retina. I am interested in diseases of the retina such as those caused by diabetes, and other blood vessel problems such as retinal vein occlusions as well as age related macular degeneration. I treat these conditions with the most current therapies including intravitreal injections (Lucentis, Eylea, Avastin, Ozurdex, Iluvien) and laser treatments (including PRP, macular subthreshold/ micropulse laser). I approach every individual patient in a holistic manner.
I trained in London at St Thomas’ Hospital, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital. I also did sub-specialist fellowships in Medical Retina and Uveitis. In addition I have an interest in general ophthalmology including small incision cataract surgery by phacoemulsification.
As the Clinical Lead of the Peterborough & Cambridgeshire Diabetic Eye Screening Service, I was responsible for the clinical governance of the programme which delivers retinal screening to approximately 30,000 patients.
I hold an honorary research fellowship at the Vision and Eye Research Unit (VERU), Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge. I actively participate in collaborative research in the field of diabetic retinopathy and age related macular degeneration.
