I specialise in musculoskeletal imaging in general, and in imaging of sports injuries and chronic overuse injuries in particular. At the Cambridge Lea Hospital, I have access to state-of-the-art imaging facilities and in addition to reporting on plain films, I perform ultrasound, CT and MRI examinations in a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions.
I also specialise in image-guided treatment of sports injuries and chronic overuse injuries. Using imaging techniques to guide injections ensures that the injected material reaches the intended target, increasing efficacy and potentially reducing the risk of complications. I perform ultrasound or fluoroscopic guided therapeutic injections of steroids, or of anaesthetic for diagnostic purposes. I also inject Hyaluronic acid agents or local anaesthetic into the hip for patients with osteoarthritis and again this is performed under image guidance and under local anaesthetic (avoiding the need for a general anaesthetic). In the shoulder specifically, I perform hydrodistension for frozen shoulder, and barbotage for calcific tendinitis, again under ultrasound guidance and local anaesthetic. All these procedures are performed on an outpatient basis avoiding an inpatient stay.
