Dr Shaumik Adhya is a Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist with specialist expertise in the diagnosis and management of heart rhythm disturbances. He performs coronary angiography, pacemaker implantation, defibrillator implantation, electrophysiology studies and cardiac ablation. He also has an interest in echocardiography, the management of valve disease and cardiac function during chemotherapy.
Dr Adhya graduated with distinction from King’s College London and subsequently trained in London and the Southeast as well as a period in Sydney. He completed his research at Kings College London. This used echocardiography to assess the effect of cardiac pacing. He has published and presented internationally.
In addition, he provides treatment and investigations for cardiomyopathy, inherited heart conditions, hypertension and heart failure.
He is certified by the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE), and is a member of the Royal College of Physicians, British Cardiac Society and the British, US and European Heart Rhythm Societies.
He has NHS practices based at Medway Maritime Hospital and at St.Thomas’ Hospital.
