After qualifying in 1969 and subsequently obtaining a Masters Degree in general surgery, I worked as a Specialist General Surgeon; first in India and then in Iran until 1979. I then settled in the UK, gaining significant experience and training in orthopaedics along with two Fellowships from The Royal Colleges and a further Masters Degree from London University.

Other than general orthopaedic surgery, my special interest lies in lower limb surgery, particularly foot and ankle. This includes arthroscopies, replacement of ankle and toe joints and correction of various deformities of the foot. It gives me enormous satisfaction to see the physicial and emotional changes these procedures bring to my patients. I also practice paediatric orthopaedics.

I devote a considerable amount of my time to teaching and training undergraduate and postgraduate doctors, GP's and other paramedic staff (e.g. podiatrists and physiotherapists). I hold a Visiting Professorship at Imperial College, London and have been invited to lecture abroad (India, China, Canada, USA, New Zealand, Vietnam etc)

Other than medicie, one of my great passions is poetry. I have been both reading and writing poetry since childhood. I find this incredibly relaxing and fulfilling and lets me exercise my creative muscles.

I am always intrigued by different languages and cultures around the world. Other than English, I am fluent in Bengali and Persian and speak five other languages from the Indian subcontinent. My wife and I share a love of travelling. We have already visited five continents and are planning a few exciting trips for the future.
