I am a consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedic surgery with a specialist interest in knee disorders. My practice encompasses the entire spectrum of knee problems, ranging from arthroscopic (keyhole) ligament reconstruction following sporting injuries, to complex knee arthroplasty (replacement) for degenerative diseases.

I graduated from the University of Cardiff in 1995, and completed my Basic Surgical Training in that region. I then undertook a two year Clinical Research Fellowship at the University of Sheffield and was awarded the degree of Doctor of Medicine (MD) for my research into osteoporosis and fragility fractures. I completed my specialist Higher Surgical Training in Trauma and Orthopaedic surgery in the Oxford and Leicester regions, and was awarded the Certificate of Completion of training (CCT)

I subsequently undertook a one year Clinical Fellowship in lower limb arthroplasty (replacement) and knee reconstruction at the Calvery Hospital in Canberra, Australia. During this time I gained experience in complex primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty using cemented and cementless prosthesis. I also gained experience in unicompartmental (partial) knee arthroplasty, arthroscopic (keyhole) knee reconstruction and knee osteotomies. Thereafter, I completd a six month Clinical Fellowship in knee surgery and sports injuries at the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (Holland Orthopaedic and Arthritic Centre) in Toronto, Canada. During this time I gained experience in patellofemoral (kneecap) disorders, ligament reconstruction, cartilage and meniscal transplantation and realignment procedures.

My NHS practice is based at the Medway Maritime NHS Foundation Trust in Gillingham. My role includes the training of other health professionals, ranging from teaching family doctors to perform injections, to training orthopaedic surgeons in the techniques of knee and hip surgery.

I enjoy outdoor activities such as mountain biking and snowboarding. Both my wife and myself are interested in travel and often visit Europe and Asia. I have backpacked across North America and we have explored New Zealand by campervan and have toured South Africa and Australia. As part of my training as a surgeon, we had the opportunity of living and working in Australia for a year, and Canada for six months.
