Professional profile:
I qualified in 1977 at St Bartholomew's Hospital, London and undertook my orthopaedic training in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Oswestry and Stoke with fellowships in South Africa, Germany and Austria. I was appointed consultant at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital in 1992.

In 1996 I moved to Arrowe Park Hospital (Wirral Hospitals NHS Trust) to start a shoulder service on the Wirral.For the past 10 years I have concentrated my practice on the treatment and surgery of the shoulder and hip joints. My shoulder practice encompasses all aspects of shoulder conditions, particularly shoulder injury in sports persons, fractures, age related conditions and shoulder joint arthritis utilising the latest surgical techniques, including arthroscopic surgery and joint reconstruction. My hip practice concentrates on joint replacement particularly in younger patients.
