Dr Mahmud was a student at Kings and medical houseman at the Kent & Sussex, he trained in General Medicine at Kings, St Thomas' and Pembury Hospitals.
His Rheumatology training was at Kings with Prof. Scott and Dr John Goodwill, the Lupus unit at St Thomas' with Prof Graham Hughes and Guy's Rheumatology Unit with Prof Gabriel Panayi and Dr Terry Gibson.
Dr Mahmud provided the Ankylosing Spondylitis service at the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases.
