Background Information
Professional profile:

Mr Sunil Kumar is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Spire Hartswood Hospital in Brentwood, Essex and Spire Roding Hospital in Redbridge, Essex, offering specialist private knee surgery and general orthopaedic surgery in our clean and comfortable private hospitals.

Sunil Kumar is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon with a particular interest in sports injuries and has treated sports men and women at various levels. He works closely with numerous sports physiotherapists, and is also working with surgeons around the country in developing the exciting new field of arthroscopic knee surgery.

Mr Kumar trained at the London Hospital Medical College, qualifying in 1989 and undertook his orthopaedic training at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, followed by specialist knee and sports trauma fellowships in New Zealand and Australia.

He was appointed Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in 2000, and his NHS practice is at Queen's Hospital, Romford and King George's Hospital, Goodmayes. He is now clinical director for the musculoskeletal service and an active faculty member of knee surgery training courses and trainee appointment committees.

Within sports injuries, Mr Kumar has developed rapid rehabilitation programmes, traumatic osteochondial lesions requiring repair cartilage transplantation, anterior and posterior cruciate ligament reconstruction along with multi-ligament stabilisation.

Mr Kumar also offers the latest in knee replacement surgery, including the much publicised 'gender specific' knee replacement.
