Mr Agrawal’s main areas of interest are in the fields of Bariatric (Obesity / Weight loss), Laparoscopic (Keyhole) and upper Gastrointestinal (GI) Surgery.
He specialises in Laparoscopic gastric bypass, Laparoscopic gastric band and Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy for Obesity, Laparoscopic hernia repairs, Laparoscopic cholecystectomy for gallstones, Laparoscopic antireflux surgery for gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), & Advanced laparoscopic surgery.
He has had extensive training in Laparoscopic and General surgery both in UK and in India and has undertaken more than 2000 surgical procedures so far.
In addition, Mr Agrawal has performed over 350 laparoscopic (keyhole) bariatric procedures (including more than 200 laparoscopic gastric bypasses).
Mr Agrawal has trained as the First Post-CCT Fellow in Bariatric and Upper GI Surgery for 12-months (awarded under the National Surgical Fellowship Scheme) through the Royal College of Surgeons of England, in partnership with the Surgical Specialist Associations at Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton, Somerset. This center is one of the busiest in the country, as well as being an ASMBS (American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery) - rated International Centre of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery.
Mr Agrawal has also trained with Dr Bruno Dillemans at St. Jan Hospital in Bruges, Belgium, where he completed a 3-month fellowship in Bariatric Surgery, awarded by Association of Surgeons in Training (ASiT), UK. This center is one of the busiest in the world (performing over 900 bariatric procedures annually).
Mr Agrawal was a Visiting Fellow on the Ethicon Short-term Clinical Visits programme awarded by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Ethicon Foundation Fund in the Gastric Surgery Division at the National Cancer Center and Cancer Institute Hospital, Tokyo, Japan.
He trains other surgeons in the field of bariatric and laparoscopic surgery and has undertaken numerous presentations at national and international meetings, and also has publications in peer reviewed journals.
