Mr Khan is also Mersey Deanery Tutor for specialist doctors.
His research interests include :-
Trained in Ireland and England in surgery, Mr. Usman Khan worked as registrar and senior registrar for 5 years in the North West Thames rotation. He also worked as an RSO at the world famous St Mark's Hospital for Intestinal Diseases, London. Mr Khan has been on the Specialist register since May 1999. Mr. Khan has worked as a consultant surgeon in England and overseas since 1999, before taking up a substantive appointment as a consultant surgeon in gastro-enterology in Macclesfield in June 2005. His special interests are colorectal, laparoscopic and endoscopy.
Mr Khan is Head of General Surgery at East Cheshire NHS Trust. He has led the development of laparoscopic colorectal surgery and Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS).
Mr Khan has also developed day case gall bladder surgery.
Mr. Khan enjoys mountaineering, cricket and motor cycling.
Mr Khan lives locally and has 2 children
