When diets and slimming regimes alone fail, there could be another way to lose weight. If you are one of the thousands of people who have a BMI of 27 – 35 and want to loose between 10 – 25Kg (22 - 55lbs) and have tried dieting the ‘traditional’ way without success, then you may need help of a different kind.
Orbera™ does not involve surgery nor does it require long-term drug therapy.

At Spire Regency Hospital in Macclesfield there is another option for people who want to lose weight but don’t want or qualify for more drastic measures like surgery.
Previously, intra-gastric balloon procedures were only available to people who were obese. The new Orbera™ system is now available to those people who are overweight and have struggled with other methods of weight loss such as dietary programs or medication.
The New Orbera™ Weight Management System is a non-surgical and non-pharmaceutical weight loss system designed to lay the foundations for long term and sustained weight loss.
At Spire Regency Hospital in Macclesfield, we have a dedicated weight loss management team, including bariatric specialist, Mr. Anselm Agwunobi, a qualified dietician and trained specialist nurses who will support you throughout your Orbera™ weight loss programme.
Orbera™ is a soft, saline filled silicone balloon that is placed in the stomach for six months. The balloon is designed to partially fill your stomach, giving you a feeling of fullness so helping you to eat less and control your food intake, whilst initiating changes in eating habits that will help you keep the weight off once the balloon is removed
Orbera™ does not involve surgery nor does it require long-term drug therapy. It is placed and removed during a simple 20-30 minute ‘endoscopic’ procedure, during which you will be mildly sedated.
