    Dr Palmer trained at Oxford University and Guy's Hospital, London. He undertook a DM at Oxford University whilst he was a Medical Research Council (MRC) Clinical Scientist. He has been a consultant in the Birmingham area for 21 years and has extensive experience of general medical issues as a general physician and rheumatologist. He now focuses on the specialist subject of rheumatology alone. He has close working links with other specialist colleagues including orthopaedic surgeons, neurosurgeons and neurologists.

    He is interested in all aspects of rheumatology especially those disorders associated with inflammation such as rheumatoid arthritis or gout.

    Dr Palmer set up the local NHS osteoporosis service 10 years ago and continues to have a keen interest in this subject.
