Besides being a paediatric and neonatal surgeon, Mr Kulkarni also holds specialist qualifications in paediatric urology. His practice includes common conditions in paediatric surgery like hernia, hydrocele, circumcision and un-descended testes. His practice includes endoscopy and laparoscopy. As a paediatric urologist, he specialises in hypospadias repair, surgical management of urinary tract infections, cystoscopy, urodynamics. He is a skilled laparoscopic surgeon and performs retroperitoneoscopic nephrectomies, pyeloplasties and un-descended testes operations. He is an active researcher in minimally invasive surgery and paediatric urology.

He is a regular faculty member at British Association of Paediatric Endoscopic Surgeons Annual Training Workshop. He has participated in teaching activities at various national and regional training courses. He is an examiner for Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Mr Kulkarni primarily trained in India for his basic medical and postgraduate education in general surgery and then in paediatric surgery. He gained further experience in paediatric urology at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. He undertook training in clinical fellowship in New Zealand where he gained advanced laparoscopic skills.

He has worked as Consultant Paediatric Surgeon/Urologist since 2002 and undertakes primarily specialist work in paediatric urology. His experience is accredited by European Board of Paediatric Urology with Fellowship qualification. Mr Kulkarni is an advanced paediatric laparoscopic surgeon and has established laparoscopic paediatric urology services at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
