    Mr Jewkes was born and educated in the USA. After working for a year in London he entered the University of Birmingham Medical School and graduated in 1980 MB ChB (Distinction in Psychiatry). Full time research in cancer unit at Birmingham 1987-1989.

    Mr Jewkes is married with three children and his wife is involved in medical research. His non-medical interests include running, tennis, walking, cycling, gardening and computing.
