Dr Tordoff trained in Cape Town, South Africa and graduated in 1980. He moved to the United Kingdom in 1987 and he was appointed as a consultant in Anaesthesia and Pain Management in 1993. He initially worked in Northampton before moving to Leicester in 2001. Dr Tordoff is based at the Leicester General Hospital and he also works at LOROS where he is involved in the management of patients with cancer-related pain.
Dr Tordoff's clinical interests involve the management of patients with persistent (chronic) pain, including back and neck pain, joint and muscle pain, neuropathic pain, and pain following trauma. He has a special interest in patients with cancer-related pain. He also undertakes medico-legal work.
His treatment includes medications, complementary and physical therapies and nerve blocks which include ablations of nerves with radio-frequency (microwave).
Dr Tordoff worked as a cartoonist on a newspaper before going to University. His father told him to get a proper job, so he studied medicine. He still draws when he gets time. He keeps chickens and enjoys watching rugby. Dr Tordoff is an avid Tigers supporter but still shouts for South Africa when they play England.
