I am suffering from incontinence and my GP has recommended that I have a cystoscopy. Can you please tell me why this is necessary and if it will be performed under a local anaesthetic?
I have to get up three or four times a night to urinate and I find it difficult to start and stop passing urine. My GP thinks I might have an enlarged prostate and has suggested a PSA test. Can you tell me what this test is and what it might reveal? I’m 61 years old.
I am a 38 year old man and I’ve recently been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and have been referred for tests for cancer staging. Could you explain what this means?

After months of severe back pain my GP has referred me to a neurosurgeon. Can you please advise what I should expect?
How often should I see my dermatologist for skin cancer prevention? I’m a 31-year-old woman. I’ve lived in Florida for most of my life and recently moved to the UK. I have a history of childhood sunburns. Also, I have an odd looking mole. Should I be worried that it will turn into cancer?
My GP has diagnosed me with high blood pressure (hypertension). I read that this could increase my risk of developing cardiovascular disease or strokes. I’m a forty-year-old woman who is in otherwise good health. Could you please advise if this is correct and what treatment options are available?

My questions relate to the repair of a shoulder injury, specifically a massive rotator cuff tear. I've read that the way to obtain movement and relieve the pain is to transfer the latissimus dorsi muscle by disconnecting and raising the tendon to anchor it at the top of the shoulder, to support the injured joint. My questions are: how is the latissimus dorsi tendon anchored to the shoulder? Where is the point of anchor? Does the tendon repair react similarly to a bone fracture, where calcium is formed and becomes as one? How soon can sporting activity be safely recommenced after surgery, such as tennis, golf and cricket?
Please could you tell me if fibromyalgia is similar to polymyalgia rheumatica? I take Predisilone for polymyalgia which started eight years ago. I am 88 years old. Sometimes the problem clears up for a while, then returns. Please could you advise?

I’m a man in my late forties and I have a varicose vein in my left leg, which first appeared 6 months ago. My calf often becomes very red and swollen especially when I have done any weight bearing exercise, which is often as I have a physical job. What would be my treatment options?
My two-year old baby boy has suffered from repeated throat infections since he was born, and these are often accompanied by earache. My GP has recommended that we consider having his tonsils removed. Is this something that you would recommend for such a young child or should we wait until he is older?
