Dr Wilkinson was appointed as a consultant dermatologist at the Leeds General Infirmary and Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Leeds in 1995. He has been lead clinician for the dermatology department of the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust since 2003.
He undertook his medical training in Cambridge and in dermatology in Stoke-on-Trent and Manchester.
Dr Wilkinson practises in general dermatology including skin cancer but has a special interest in contact dermatitis (eczema) and occupational skin disease. He has on-going research in these areas and has published widely with in excess of 100 peer reviewed publications and has written chapters in several major textbooks. He advises patient support groups including Allergy UK, the Latex Allergy Support Group and the British Skin Foundation.
