I qualified in Medicine in 1991 in Berlin, Germany where I also obtained my Doctor of Medicine (MD) in 1993. As a junior doctor I worked in South Africa and the UK, before returning to Germany to do my Higher Surgical Training in Urology. During this time I developed a clinical interest in Uro-Oncology and was able to support this with post-doctorate research in molecular oncology. I was accredited in 2000 as a Urologist. I have been working in the UK as a Consultant Urologist since 2002 and joined the Urology team at Hull in a substantive post in summer 2003. In my clinical practice I treat patients with all aspects of general Urology. I have set up an incontinence service within the hospital. My other special interests include overactive/irritable bladder, painful bladder syndrome/interstitial cystitis, oncological urology and prostatic hyperplasia.

I was born in 1962 in Germany. I little suspected in 1993 in my first UK post at Leeds General Infirmary, that I would meet my future wife, a fellow doctor. We are happily settled in Yorkshire with our three children.
