Training and backgroundDr. Matt Johnson graduated from St. George’s Medical School, London in 1995. He underwent postgraduate medical training in the South East Thames region and is now dual accredited to practice general medicine and gastroenterology. He completed a Research Fellowship at St. Mark’s and St. Thomas’s which led to a Master’s degree in 2009 and several publications assessing the effects of bacteria and probiotics in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
Special Interests His training has provided him with specialist experience in dealing with complicated acid reflux disease, oesophageal dysmotility, coeliac disease and IBD. Dr. Matt Johnson also has experience with small bowel capsule enteroscopy and oesophageal manometry studies. He is fully competent in a range of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures having worked for 4.5 years on emergency endoscopy rotas at St.Thomas’s and on the Liver Unit at King’s.
NHS ServiceDr. Matt W. Johnson is the Lead Consultant in Gastroenterology at the Luton & Dunstable Hospital. He is also committed to teaching and research.

Outside of medicine most of my time is dedicated to my family. I also enjoy singing, playing guitar and writing music. On more energetic days you may catch me running around the Chiltern hills. As my family and I are due to relocate locally most of my free time has recently been taken up with house hunting.
