After graduating from Medical School, I spent four years training in general surgery. From 1977 until 1982 I trained in plastic surgery. During this period I worked in many plastic surgery units in this country. I then worked as a consultant plastic surgeon in Abu Dhabi for nine years.

I returned to the UK in 1991 and undertook a number of locum posts before settling in Scotland to work in the Regional Plastic Surgery Unit for East Scotland at St. John's Hospital. Here, I developed my interest in Laser Surgery and, over the past 15 years, published several papers. I helped develop our laser unit to become one of the leading units in this country.

I use various types of lasers for treatment of thread veins and other vascular skin conditions, including brown skin lesions. The increasing demand for laser hair removal constitutes the large contingent of the private laser practice. Other skin conditions such as wrinkles can be treated with botox and fillers, one of the new trends in recent years.

I am a family man; my wife works for a wide variety of charitable organisations, my daughter is a dentist and my son is in his first year of university. Outside of my professional work and the family, I enjoyed playing squash for five years until I attained a high standard of skill in the game. I then took fishing up as another hobby in which I won the gold fish medal at the tourist club in Abu Dhabi. My avid interests, however, still remains in reading and calligraphy.
