    Professional profile:
    I am a Consultant Physician in Acute Medicine in the Combined Assessment Unit at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, which is one of the busiest units in Scotland. The unit is seen as a leader in its field, both nationally and internationally.

    I am also Clinical Director of Medicine for Lothian. This is the biggest directorate in Lothian and I lead service redesign in all of the acute hospitals in Lothian.

    I have experience in the acute presentation of disease in all aspects of general medicine. I am interested in all aspects of general medicine and see a broad spectrum of diseases. I am happy to review patients with a variety of symptoms from chest pains/breathlessness to falls and faints. I also deal with cardiovascular and cerebrovascular problems as well as asthma and COPD. I will see all patients who do not fall into any specific disease category such as chronic fatigue syndrome.
