Background Information
Professional profile:
I am a consultant ophthalmologist at Princess Alexandra Eye Pavilion, Edinburgh.

I have had training in Ophthalmology at Leeds teaching hospitals NHS trust, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and Ninewells hospital, Dundee.

I completed an ASTO (Advanced subspecialty training opportunity) in Corneal & External eye diseases at Leeds teaching hospital and Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield. Subsequently, I completed a one year Fellowship in Cornea and Refractive surgery at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital.

I am an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. I review articles for medical journals including EYE and British Journal of Ophthalmology. I am also the lead Clinician for the Quality improvement team for ophthalmology at the Eye Pavilion.

My special interests include Cataract surgery, Corneal & External Eye disease management including surgery and Refractive surgery. I perform corneal grafts routinely and can deal with complex corneal condition.

I am trained to perform a wide range of refractive surgery procedures including Laser vision correction, Phakic implants and Multi-focal intraocular implants following cataract surgery. Multi-focal lens implants after cataract surgery help to provide good distance and near vision without need for spectacles. At present, I am only offering advice about refractive surgery and am in the process of developing this service in Edinburgh. I believe that patients who wish to consider refractive surgery are fully informed of all the possible options and potential risks associated with the procedure.

My clinical practice is mainly with adult patients with above-mentioned conditions. I normally do not see children or patients with squints, neuro-ophthalmology, retinal or oculoplastic conditions.
