HAL minimally invasive method of treatment for Haemorrhoids (Piles)

Haemorrhoids (or piles) are "anal cushions" which occur naturally in the body. Haemorrhoids may cause symptoms of bleeding, prolpase, discomfort and itching

The great advantage of HAL is that there is minimal discomfort afterwards, allowing a quick return to normal activities
Mr Justin Davies

Haemorrhoidal artery ligation (HAL), otherwise known as transanal haemorhoidal dearterialization (THD), is a minimally invasive treatment for haemorrhoids and haemorrhoidal prolapse. HAL uses an ultrasound doppler to accurately locate the arterial blood inflow. With simple stitches, these arteries are “tied off” and the prolapsed tissue is stitched back to a normal anatomical position without excision of tissue. HAL is performed above the nerve bundles, or dentate line. Because of this, there is very little discomfort. HAL is typically performed under general anaesthesia and you should be able to return to normal activities within a few days.

HAL - Transanal Haemorrhoidal Dearterialisation at Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital, the only private hospital in the area to offer this treatment. The treatment is performed by Mr Justin Davies, Consultant Colorectal and General Surgeon
