I went to medical school at the University of Birmingham, and undertook my orthopaedic training in the West Midlands. Following this I spent a year at the world famous Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto. This is the busiest trauma centre in Canada, and here I perfected my skills in complex trauma surgery, including pelvic and acetabular (hip socket) surgery. I also obtained further training in knee and hip replacement surgery.
My clinical practice at the Spire is identical to that at Addenbrooke’s, namely treating adults with hip or knee problems, or patients who have broken bones, or sustained a sporting injury.
For hip replacements I use the cemented ‘Exeter’ hip, this has excellent long term results, and is currently accepted as one of the best hip replacements available.
For knee replacements I also use a well proven cemented implant.
I run a private fracture clinic at the Spire Hospital, along with 2 other specialist trauma consultants from Addenbrooke’s Hospital. Our aim with this clinic is to provide patients with 1st class specialist opinions and treatment, at a time to suit them in a pleasant environment with no waiting.
