"I enjoy working at Spire because of the supportive team and quality of patient care"
Specialises in
I offer a range of therapy and counselling services to help people deal with and overcome issues that are either causing emotional pain or making them uncomfortable. Patients can talk about their problems in a safe and confidential environment. I am there to support and respect your views and give an insight and deeper understanding of the issues. Better understanding will help in you finding your own solutions to your problems.
Counselling involves face to face sessions with the therapist, either on a one-to-one basis or as a couple. It depends what issues you want to address. The issues may be affecting you as an individual or dynamics as a couple or even amongst families. The frequency and number of sessions can be tailored according to individual needs and preferences. Each session usually lasts up to 50 minutes.
I have developed my therapeutic skills by working in a variety of mental health settings such as tertiary care hospital settings in India, organisations such as Mental Health Matters in South Wales and Action for children in Cheshire. I've also spent many years in the NHS/GP surgeries in Wrexham and community hospital settings in North Wales.
I have got post graduate qualifications in Psychology, Diploma in Relationship Counselling (RELATE), Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, Certificate in Parent-Child Therapy, Young Person Counselling (age 11 onwards), Primary Certificate in Solution Focused, CBT, REBT and Stress Management and Attendance Certificate in Psychosexual Counselling. Currently I am permanently employed in the NHS as a counsellor. In addition to working in the NHS, I have got experience of working as a relationship counsellor (RELATE trained). I am a registered member of BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and a graduate chartered member of British Psychological Society for more than 10 years. I have worked in the field of mental health for the last 15 years.
My special interests include updating my knowledge in latest developments in the field of counselling so that I can continue to provide a caring, effective and professional service. I deliver training in the NHS settings on attachment and relationships, working therapeutically with shame as well as topics of relevance to the gynaecology/obs. colleagues in the NHS. I am licensed to run groups working with parents and facilitating group work for a variety of indications such as core positive parenting programmes. Recently, I achieved a teaching qualification to teach in the life long learning sector.
