I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising exclusively in disorders of the foot and ankle. My NHS Practice is based in the foot and ankle unit at Southend University Hospital, Mid and South Essex NHS Trust.

I qualified in Medicine (MB BS) in 1998, I trained in the East Midlands region working in tertiary specialist centres and district general hospitals. I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS Trauma & Ortho) and on the orthopaedics Specialist Register.

I undertook specialist foot and ankle fellowship training under Mr Sunil Dhar, past president of the British Foot and Ankle Society. I have done a diabetic foot fellowship and currently treat all diabetic foot patients including Charcot joint reconstruction.

I have worked as a consultant since 2019 and it was as a consultant in Stoke on Trent Major Trauma Centre where I provided my service to treat all cases with complex foot and ankle problem.

My surgical scope for foot and ankle surgery involves managing bunion correction, foot and ankle arthritis, sports injuries, ankle arthroplasty and ankle fusion. I have a special interest with diabetic foot problems and management of complex foot deformities.

I undertake all types of foot and ankle surgery, ranging from ingrowing toenail, bunion surgery and toe correction to complex deformity correction, sports ankle surgery, foot and ankle arthroscopic surgery, minimally invasive surgery, corrective fusion surgery of big and lesser toes, ankle and/or hindfoot and midfoot, achilles tendon surgery, tendon transfer surgery. I routinely do corrective surgery for high arched cavo-varus foot and/or flat foot (Pes planus deformity) correction surgery. I also undertake total ankle replacement and big toe replacement surgery.

I have presented my research at national and international society meetings and am an active member of the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (BOFAS) and British Orthopaedic Association (BOA).

The MBBS course starts with the basic pre and para-clinical subjects such as biochemistry, physiology, anatomy, microbiology, pathology, forensic medicine including toxicology and pharmacology. The students simultaneously obtain hands-on training in the wards and outpatient departments, where they interact with real patients for five years. The curriculum aims to inculcate standard protocols of history taking, examination, differential diagnosis and complete patient management. The student is taught to determine what investigations will be useful for a patient and what are the best treatment options. The curriculum also contains a thorough practical knowledge and practice of performing standard clinical procedures. The course also contains a 12-month long internship, in which an intern is rotated across various specialties.
