Professional profile

I am a Consultant Gynaecologist at Spire Washington Hospital and in addition to menstrual disorders, pelvic pain, pelvic masses, my specific interest is Urogynaecology - Pelvic Organ Prolapse, Stress Incontinence, and Overactive Bladder. In my Gynaecology training I specialised in Urogynaecology and worked in two tertiary units. I gained experience in non-mesh vault prolapse operations which is invaluable for repairing pelvic organ prolapse.

I was appointed Lead for Urogynaecology at Sunderland Royal Hospital in 2016 and in addition to standard prolapse procedures, I offer TVT and Bulkamid for stress incontinence and Botox for Refractory Overactive Bladder. As a member of the British Society for Urogynaecology I audit my surgical work. I have a keen interest in clinical research and am a Principal Investigator for the GAPP2 trial involving pelvic pain. My work has been published in the International Urogynecology Journal and I have presented original research at numerous conferences.

In the last couple of years at Sunderland Royal Hospital, I have performed 181 prolapse operations, 54 incontinence procedures, 84 laparoscopic procedures, and 64 hysteroscopic procedures.

I am a member of the Urinary Incontinence Multidisciplinary Team at Sunderland Royal Hospital. As the Lead for Urogynaecology I have been effective in reducing the waiting time for Urodynamic testing. I have conducted audits in postnatal bladder management, overactive bladder, and TVT and engage with the BSUG National Audit Database.

Supporting my interest in research, I am the Principal Investigator for GAPP2 and co-PI for FUTURE, a randomised control trial regarding overactive bladder.

I have a keen interest in teaching and am the Educational Supervisor for two O&G trainees.
