I have held an NHS consultant post within the specialist field of foot health since 2010. I operate on the foot and ankle, following extensive diagnostic tests and conservative (non-surgical) treatment options.
My career in podiatric medicine exceeds 30 years working across the local community in South East London, Sussex and Kent in both NHS and private practice. I currently hold an NHS contract as a Consultant Podiatric Surgeon at Essex Partnership NHS Trust seeing children and adults with a wide range of foot problems, including skin lesions, heel pain, great toe pain/bunions/arthritis, toenail pathologies, toe problems/hammer toes, neuroma, and recurring foot pain.
I undertake 360 appraisals within my surgical colleague network and patient group, and contribute to the consultant appraisal process. I am annotated as a podiatric surgeon on the regulatory body website which provides governance and assurance of meeting the 19 standards of podiatrists practicing podiatric surgery.
I am recognised as a leader in the foot health field and specialise in extended scope podiatric medicine and podiatric surgery – this covers the foot and associated structures. I am also a registered tutor of the Royal College of Podiatry, and the first female Dean of the Faculty of Podiatric Surgery (2017-2022).
Qualifications:
As a foot and ankle specialist I provide conservative care and surgery for pathologies including skin, soft tissue and bone. Surgery for bone pathologies include, arthroplasty, arthrodesis, osteotomy, cheilectomy, joint replacements and digital amputations. For soft tissues I undertake a range of procedures including soft tissue lumps and bumps (fibroma, ganglion, cyst excision), tendon surgery, nerve surgery: neuroma/tarsal tunnel decompression, heel bumps, and skin lesions.
