Specialises in
I qualified at King’s College Hospital Medical School, London and did most of my postgraduate training in London and in Manchester, where I was also a lecturer at the University of Manchester. I am one of the UK’s leading specialists in the treatment of balance disorders and have a national and international referral base, receiving referrals and seeing patients from across the UK and around the world. I estimate I have seen patients from every continent.
I set up the Balance Centre in the Neurosciences Unit at Medway Maritime Hospital, which is widely recognised as a Centre of Excellence in the management of balance problems.
With regard to balance disorders, a study of 50 patients I have seen, has shown that on average they had been unwell for 44 months before they saw me and in that time had seen at least two other hospital specialists (about five times) and their GP an average of eight times. However, these same patients were, on average, 70% better nine months after their first visit to me. I also diagnose, quantify and am able to recommend the most appropriate treatment/management for hearing loss and tinnitus.
I lecture regularly at national and international conferences and courses. I have previously organised the Vestibular Rehabilitation Course (basic and advanced parts), which was one of only two or three such courses of its kind worldwide and is on the Faculty of the Leicester Balance Course.
