Skin prick testing for nasal allergies
Mr Simon Baer, consultant ear, nose and throat (ENT) surgeon, can help discover what is causing your nasal allergic reactions by skin prick testing in his One-Stop Nasal Allergy Clinic.
Skin prick testing is an immediate test for nasal allergies carried out in one visit. Allergies usually present with sudden symptoms within 15 minutes of contact such as hives, swelling and anaphylaxis.
When you come to the clinic you can expect:
Following your skin prick test, Mr Baer will ask you to stay at the hospital for up to one hour for observation. At that time, you can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and read a newspaper.
Please note that antihistamines have to be stopped for one week prior to skin prick testing.
The One-Stop Nasal Allergy Clinic is available once a month on a Friday. This service costs £181.50 and does not require a referral from your GP.
