20 April 2015
On Friday 20 March our staff in theatre organised an Easter fund raising morning in aid of Demelza and raised an amazing £565.
The morning, which had staff, consultants and patients involved, included an Easter egg dip, raffle and cake sale.
Demelza is a charity providing hospice care for children with life-limiting or life-threatening illnesses in East Sussex.
Maggie handed over the cheque to Julie Brett, representative for Demelza, who said, “I'm delighted to receive such a fantastic donation towards our funds and would like to thank everyone who was involved. We care for over 150 families in East Sussex with our 'hospice at home' service and only 10% of our costs are covered by government funding.
"We could not help our local children and families without the generous support of people and organisations in the community. It was so kind of the staff and patients at the Spire Sussex Hospital to raise this wonderful sum for us.”
The ladies are now busy planning next year’s fund raising event.
