I am a Consultant Vascular Surgeon, with my main NHS appointment being at St George's Hospital, London. I am the Care Group Lead for the St George's Vascular Institute and I am the Clinical Lead for Vascular Trauma at the Major Trauma Centre. In addition, I have been appointed as an Honorary Consultant at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust and I am responsible for delivery of vascular services at Epsom Hospital. My practice includes the management of abdominal aortic aneurysms, carotid disease, the management of peripheral vascular disease, the treatment of varicose veins, as well as the management of vascular and torso trauma.
My specialist interests include the management of venous conditions with particular reference to the management of central venous stenosis and I have published and delivered international presentations on these topics. I undertook my undergraduate medical training at the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa. Once qualified and emigrated to the United Kingdom in 1998, I continued my surgical training in the South West Thames region and at the Royal London Hospital. I undertook postgraduate vascular research at the University of Sheffield, investigating clinical recovery in a model of chronic moderate ischaemia and was awarded a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) degree for this work. I have a keen interest in surgical training and instruct as a member of the faculty on numerous surgical training courses delivered by the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
I was appointed as an Honorary Consultant in Vascular Surgery at St George’s Hospital and I am currently the Clinical Lead for Vascular Trauma.
