Professional profile

I am a consultant paediatrician with an excellent record of training and more than 20 years of experience in paediatrics. I am currently working as an expert in epilepsy and neurodisability. Apart from managing various general paediatric conditions in children (0-16), I have special expertise in paediatric epilepsy, neurodevelopmental disorders, neurofibromatosis and neurodisability conditions, like cerebral palsy. I worked in various teaching hospitals in the Northern Region and moved to London in July 2018 when I started working at St George's Hospital, Child Development Centre.

I provide a holistic approach into the management of children with complex health needs, learning difficulties or cerebral palsy and children with neurodevelopmental conditions. They may need a multidisciplinary assessment to look for the cause of their difficulties and the support they need. Sometimes further information should be gathered from other therapists involved e.g. education, physiotherapist, occupational therapist and speech and language therapist before a diagnosis can be made. In some conditions, further referral to other services like a clinical geneticist and paediatric neurologist may be required. Some children may benefit from further investigations including EEG, blood tests or urine tests.

Apart from clinical work, I have been providing teaching for junior doctors, nurses and allied professionals and obtained a certificate in medical education. I also have a duty to provide supervision for specialist epilepsy nurses and neurodisability specialist nurses during my current job. I am also leading MDT meetings for children with complex health needs.
