Shaun is a qualified and registered therapy radiographer with the HCPC who has specialised in treatment planning since moving to the United Kingdom in 2012. Shaun qualified in Australia with a Masters of Radiation Therapy (Hons) 2010 from the University of Sydney.
He has worked in the private radiotherapy sector in both Australia, at the Radiation Oncology Institute, and in the United Kingdom at the Elstree Cancer Centre. Shaun has broad experience in intensity modulated and image-guided radiotherapy, brachytherapy as well as the use of breath hold. Shaun is a motivated and dedicated member of the team with a keen eye for innovation, development and improving the patient experience.
Bon is a registered clinical scientist with the HCPC and a Chartered Scientist with the Association of Clinical Scientists. He holds an MSc in Medical Physics from the University of Surrey and a PhD in Medical Physics from the University of Portsmouth.
He has significant clinical experience in lead physicist positions at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust, Cancer Partners UK and Auckland Radiation Oncology (NZ). He has experience in the introduction and clinical use of advanced treatment techniques including stereotactic radiotherapy, hypofractionation as well as the use of motion management and adaptive radiotherapy techniques.
Bon has extensive knowledge of different treatment planning systems and treatment machines, and is a Medical Physics Expert (MPE) for radiotherapy physics. He is experienced in setting up new radiotherapy centres, management of existing ones, as well as supervision and working with teams across different professions.
Vasu qualified in India and started his career working in a premier institute ‘All India Institute of Medical Sciences’, New Delhi, for six years, where he implemented advanced treatment techniques like IMRT, SRS and SRT 1996-2003.
He moved to the UK in 2003 and worked for the National Centre for Stereotactic Radiosurgery, Sheffield, performing highly specialised Gama Knife treatments for brain tumours and malformations (three and a half years).
To further his education, Vasu moved to main stream radiotherapy and worked for both Nottingham University Hospitals and Taunton & Somerset NHS Trust.
In total, Vasu has over 18 years of experience with 10 years in the NHS. He is a state registered clinical scientist and a corporate member of IPEM, UK.
Sarah qualified as a registered nurse in 1998. Since then she has worked in various nursing specialties both in the UK and abroad within the NHS and private healthcare settings. Sarah holds a Bsc (Hons) in Nursing. Sarah has specialised and worked in oncology, in particular the chemotherapy setting since 2006. In that time, whilst working in Ireland, she obtained a post graduate diploma in Oncology.
Sarah has experience in the administration of chemotherapy in both oncology and haematology patients in the outpatient and inpatient environment. In the last 18 months she has been a chemotherapy lead nurse for a small private chemotherapy day unit.
“I live with my fiancé and have two step children. I enjoy walking, swimming, photography, movies, reading - when I get the chance (not often these days), chocolate, shopping, baking and making Scrabble frames.”
Rhoda graduated with a Bachelor of Science in the Philippines in 2006, took the Board of Nursing Exam in the same year and was fifth placer nationally.
She started working as Visiting Lecturer in one of the universities in Makati, Phils, but decided to do clinical nursing and became a Staff Nurse in Dec 2006. Rhoda wanted to continue her education and career in the UK and in Dec 2009 made the move and qualified here in 2010.
Rhoda worked for Colchester trust until Oct 2014 then at Queens as a Chemotherapy nurse. She has experience in administering chemo to both haematology and oncology patients plus administering supportive therapies.
“I love reading, word games, playing badminton, travelling. I hate swimming but love the sea, and am into risky adventure park rides. I love anime and everything to do with Marvel/DC comics and movies.”
Maria qualified as a registered nurse in 2009. Since then she has worked in various nursing specialties within the NHS and private healthcare settings. Maria holds a Dip HE Adult Nursing; BSc (hons) Palliative Care and the Care of the Patient Receiving Chemotherapy module at BSc level.
Maria has specialised and worked in Oncology since 2010. Maria has experience in the administration of chemotherapy in both oncology and haematology patients in the outpatient and inpatient environment. During this time Maria has also cared for inpatients with acute complications of cancer, chemotherapy and bone marrow transfusion; also at the end of life. In the last three years Maria has been the Palliative Care link nurse and team educator for a small team, for a private healthcare provider.
Maria lives with her husband and has one daughter, a step-daughter and step-son. She enjoys yoga and exercise classes at the gym, spending time with her family, walking, swimming, reading and cooking.
Rebecca joins Spire from a care assistant background. While working in this industry Rebecca found a passion for customer care and was keen to learn more about the clinical side of things.
She joined Spire Healthcare in November 2015 as our Healthcare Assistant and is now on the educational pathway under our Chemotherapy wing. Rebecca will also be involved in the care of our radiotherapy patients, bringing an all-encompassing element to all of our services.
Jennifer completed her training at Addenbrookes’ Hospital Cambridge in 1996 receiving BSc (Hons) in Therapeutic Radiography from Anglia Polytechnic University. Jennifer’s career has seen her work in several NHS Radiotherapy Centres in the South and East of England. Her last post was at Colchester Hospital where she worked for 16 years as a Team Leader and Prostate Review Radiographer. Jennifer has extensive experience treating all tumour sites, using IGRT and IMRT and the use of Varian Truebeam linear accelerators and their management system.
Jennifer has started her Master’s degree studies by studying On Treatment Review and Prostate Cancer. Her passion is for patient care especially the management of treatment related side effects. Jennifer is the centre’s Lead for On Treatment Review supporting all patients and their families and careers during radiotherapy treatment at Chelmsford. She is keen to push forward with all aspects of patient information, care and support at Spire Specialist Care Centre making our patients journeys as stress free and seamless as possible.
Danielle qualified in 2012 with an Hons degree in Radiotherapy & Oncology from The University of Hertfordshire. After completing her training in the purpose-built radiotherapy centre in Oxford, Danielle worked at both the Essex County & General Hospital’s in Colchester.
Danielle is a dedicated and highly motivated radiographer with a broad range of experience with advanced imaging and radiotherapy treatment techniques and has extensive experience with Varian Truebeam. Danielle is currently working towards her Master’s degree in Radiotherapy and Oncology at Sheffield Hallam University with a special interest in advanced imaging in radiotherapy
Karen qualified as a Therapy Radiographer in 2002 from University College Suffolk in Ipswich, having previously worked as a medical secretary in the NHS and private sector for many years in various specialties.
Before joining Spire Healthcare, Karen worked at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge for over 10 years in a senior role. During this time she gained extensive experience in CT pre-treatment, and advanced radiotherapy techniques including Tomotherapy, IMRT and stereotactic, treating both adults and children.
Karen lives with her husband (two sons grown and flown the nest) and in her spare time helps run the South Devon cattle herd and horse livery yard at their farm locally. She also loves spending time walking her two feisty Jack Russell dogs and practising yoga
Elaine joined the Spire team in December 2015 having spent over 15 years in healthcare for both the NHS and private sector.
She has considerable experience in all aspects of hospital administration, management and HR which made her a perfect fit for the team at the Specialist Care Centre in Chelmsford.
Elaine is responsible for the day to day administration of the Centre ensuring all patients are accommodated throughout their treatment and our Clinical Oncologists have the access they need to Spire Healthcare in-house services.
Natasha has over 14 years’ experience in business development, marketing and corporate management, with the last 10 years based in the City.
She has been involved in a number of NHS Tender Contracts for both the Home Counties and London including the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Lewisham Hospital and Homerton Hospital ensuring the security of the hospital and staff over five and two year contracts.
Natasha worked hard to gain promotion in her last position and was recognised two years running as the top account manager in the company.
