I’m a paediatric orthopaedic consultant at Southampton General Hospital and 100% of my practice is dedicated to looking after children with orthopaedic conditions. I graduated from Edinburgh Medical School and my orthopaedic training took place in Bristol followed by Sydney. I’m passionate about my work and really enjoy getting to know families and helping treat their kids get back on track and maximise their potential.
I specialise in the assessment and management of a whole host of childhood orthopaedic conditions from assessing limbs and funny walks to checking painful feet or injured knees and wrists. As a surgeon I have expertise in performing many different kinds orthopaedic operations, however I’m used to making recommendations about lots of non-surgical treatments for your child like physiotherapy, splints and insoles. I’m good at providing structured advice about how to rehabilitate back to normal function and participation in sports.
My sub-specialist interests include assessing babies and children with foot and limb deformities and I run the CTEV (clubfoot) service with my colleague Mr Barry. I’m also part of the neuromuscular team helping to assess and treat arm and leg problems in children with cerebral palsy and other neurological disorders.
I also run general children's orthopaedic clinics in Southampton and Poole where I assess and treat all sorts of childhood conditions from bunions and ganglions to trigger thumbs.
