Professional profile

I am a full time consultant ophthalmic and oculoplastic surgeon at the University Hospital Southampton. I received comprehensive fellowship training and specialise in the management of oculoplastic (eyelid), lacrimal (relating to the production and drainage of tears) and orbital (eye socket) disorders. I developed the Orbital service at the University Hospital Southampton and set up the endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy (endoDCR) service at the Southampton Eye Unit. Together with a consultant endocrinologist, we established the joint thyroid-eye clinic at the University Hospital Southampton.

In my practice, I manage a variety of oculoplastic disorders including droopy eyelid surgery, skin cancer, thyroid eye disease and facial nerve palsy, and performs reconstruction surgery. I also perform endoDCR, an procedure for treating watery eyes caused by blocked tear ducts. I have experience with periocular autologous fat grafting, a procedure to treat hollows around the eyelids, and also with botulinum toxin (botox) and dermal filler injections. I have a broad general ophthalmology background and also performs cataract surgery.

I am registered on the GMC specialist register. I am a member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and a full member of the British Oculoplastic Surgical Society (BOPSS).

I am the sub-specialty lead for the Orbital service at the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.

In addition to my clinical work, I am involved in research and have multiple peer-reviewed publications in major international ophthalmology journals.
