Spire South Bank hospital has new head of physiotherapy

17 June 2016

She has worked with some of the top players in the world of football and ruby union but now physiotherapist Nel Porteous is getting to grips with amateur sports enthusiasts in Worcestershire.

Nel, who spent 15 years working with Worcester Warriors and four years with Gloucester RUFC, is now heading up the Spire Droitwich Clinic physio department which she also helped to design.

The clinic, on Worcester Road, Droitwich, has recently expanded its dedicated sports injury services with Nel, who qualified as a physio 30 years ago, heading up operations.

She said: “There is an ever-growing number of people taking part in sport and taking part for much longer. It isn’t unusual for me to be treating people in their 60s and even 70s who are keen to get back on the tennis courts or out running or cycling.

“It is important that people can be helped through injuries in order to get them back to what they enjoy and what is keeping them fit and healthy whatever their age.”

Nel also practices at Spire South Bank Hospital in Bath Road, Worcester.
