I have been a practicing Physician since 1973, and have been a Consultant in the NHS since 1985. My main career appointment was that of Consultant Nephrologist and Physician at the Queen Alexandra Hospital (Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust).
My major research interest is in genetics of kidney disease. With Hypertension being my major subspecialty interest and I ran a specialist service for the district. I was elected a Fellow of the British Hypertension Society and of the High Blood Pressure Council of the American Heart Association. I have also been providing acute Medicine cover on an ad hoc basis for dealing with medical emergencies.
Since 2017 I have been a Consultant Physician at The Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford. I also work one day a week in the Emergency Assessment Unit, supervising the care of acute unselected admissions.
Since 1986 I have worked independently in Nephrology and General (Internal) Medicine at the Spire and Nuffield private hospitals. I undertake private consultations and am available for sessional work in my specialties.
Being an Independent Medicolegal Practitioner since 1986, I provide medical reports in cases of medical litigation.
