Professional profile

I have been a Consultant Orthopaedic surgeon since 1994 specialising in knee, shoulder and sports surgery.

My principle elective interests in orthopaedics include the management of traumatic and degenerative disorders of the knee, shoulder and hip joint, as well as sports surgery. As an orthopaedic specialist I aim to offer the latest techniques including arthroscopic surgery (also known as keyhole surgery) of the knee, shoulder and elbow.

I have a special interest in knee surgery, specifically in arthroscopic knee ligament reconstruction, anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and posterior cruciate ligament (PCL). I also carry out meniscal cartilage surgery using the latest repair and replacement techniques. I treat mild and severe arthritis using arthroscopic techniques, minimally invasive computer navigated / total and partial knee replacement (MIS-CAS) and articular cartilage repair or transplantation surgery.

My interests with shoulder injury include arthroscopic minimally invasive treatment of shoulder instability, rotator cuff tears, impingement, injury to the acromio-clavicular joint and arthritis surgery including shoulder resurfacing and total joint replacement.

I received surgical training in India, higher specialist surgical training in the UK and sub-specialty training in the USA.

My NHS practice includes the provision of general orthopaedic trauma care at the University hospitals Birmingham Foundation Trust in Birmingham.
