Agelos came to the UK from Greece 20 years ago as an assistant Nurse via a European exchange program. Fascinated by technology and science, but always focused in Medical applications he expanded his studies in Medical Engineering and Medical Radiation Physics; he gained his MSc from Birmingham University in Jan 2000. He joined the Bristol Oncology Centre in the same year where he completed his professional training that led to his MIPEM status with the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine. He is a registered Clinical Scientist with the HCPC and a Chartered Scientist with the Association of Clinical Scientists.
Agelos has gained 10 years of experience working in the NHS and 4 years of experience working for the private sector both within the UK and overseas. Agelos has worked in Australia, Sri Lanka and also in Albania where he undertook a big project on behalf of a private Greek Hospital. The project involved setting up the first Radiotherapy Centre equipped with Linear Accelerators covering a large geographical area and a population of four million people that had minimal radiotherapy facilities. Agelos trained local physicists, radiographers and junior Oncologists and managed to treat more than 500 patients in its first year of operation.
Agelos has extensive knowledge in ELEKTA treatment machines and he is a Medical Physics Expert in Quality Control and Radiation Dosimetry with in-depth knowledge of UK and International Codes of Practices.
