Ken Clarke MP visits construction site of new Tollerton Hospital

16 February 2017

Mr Clarke, who will serve as local MP to the new independent hospital, was able to assess progress of the building of this state-of-the-art facility which will bring together the very best medical and surgical consultants, clinical teams, equipment and environments.

On his tour of the hospital, Mr Clarke spoke with members of the new management team and learned of the high-points and challenges of building a hospital from scratch.

“It’s a smart looking building and I hope it will be a valuable addition to the healthcare services for many years to come for the people of Nottingham,” says Mr Clarke.

Once fully-open in early 2017, Spire Nottingham Hospital will create in the region of 150 jobs with the intention to double the workforce in the next two years. The hospital will be available to patients who have private medical insurance or who wish to pay for their own treatment. It will also be working with the local clinical commissioning groups to offer the e-Referral Service for NHS patients, and with local NHS trusts to provide contract work for specific specialties.

“We were delighted to welcome Mr Clarke to Spire Nottingham Hospital and introduce him to members of the team and our plans for the hospital, says Hospital Director, Will Pressley.

With around 6 months until we open it has been an excellent opportunity to discuss the important part our hospital will play in supporting the local community and how proud we are to be associated with Nottingham and the surrounding regions. We are extremely pleased with the positive feedback we have received from local residents, the medical community and those who wish to join our team.”
