Professional profile

I trained in London and was first appointed consultant dermatologist Leicester in 1983. I practice conventional dermatology with a special interest in paediatric skin disorders and a bias towards inflammatory skin diseases, notably eczema and skin cancer. I have had a private practice for the past 34 years, primarily based at Spire Leicester Hospital.

I was the lead for cutaneous lymphoma in the East Midlands and hold the title of Honorary Professor at the University of Leicester. I was the President of the British Association of Dermatologists (2005-2006) and the Editor of the British Journal Dermatology (2000-2004).

I was at one time heavily involved in medical management, undertaking various roles at University Hospitals of Leicester. I was also Chairman of the Department of Health Working Party on 'Dermatology Closer to Home' (2006-2008).

I have published five books, several chapters in major text books and well over 200 peer-reviewed papers, abstracts and reviews.
