I graduated from Nottingham University Medical School in 1997, and trained in Nottingham and Derby before completing an upper limb fellowship at the Wrightington Upper Limb Unit in 2008. I was appointed as a consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon in 2009 and I’m currently a board member of the Nottingham Elective Orthopaedic Service, which is a specialist unit in Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, based at the City Hospital.
I’m also clinical lead for shoulder and elbow surgery at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, and the clinical lead for shoulder trauma at East Midlands Major Trauma Centre at Queens Medical Centre.
I’ve a very large arthroscopic, arthroplasty and trauma practice in Nottingham, and I’m a member of the National Centre for Sports and Exercise Medicine, where I’ve got active roles in audit, research, teaching and training.
I also have a special interest in shoulder injuries as well as degenerative conditions of the shoulder and elbow, and my research interests extend to acute rotator cuff tears, proximal humeral fractures and shoulder arthroplasty.
